Kimberly and Brian’s beautiful Timberline wedding

August 25th, 2008

I was so excited to meet Kimberly, a fellow nature lover who was planning her wedding up at Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood. I am posting just a couple photos right now. As a photographer, I dream of the light and scenery in these photographs. And to have it all come together at Timberline for Kimberly and Brian’s portraits was truly amazing. More to come but enjoy these for now…

Chloe and Ryan’s fun, awesome wedding

August 25th, 2008

Chloe and Ryan are too cute. They were married on August 2nd at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. Their wedding was filled with laughter, fun and good times. Ryan’s mom performed the ceremony which made it extra special. Their first dance was INCREDIBLE. It started off like a typical beautiful first dance- slow and romantic. And then all of a sudden the music changed and it was ON! Ryan was whipping Chloe around and THROWING her up in the air and of course catching her on her way down! And the surprises just kept on coming… Chloe and Ryan had the WSU mascot, the cougar come down for a big reception surprise. Then we went for a stroll as the sun set and got some more amazing photos of the two of them. Chloe and Ryan, CONGRATULATIONS! I feel honored to have been a part of such a wonderful group of people!

Sara and Luke at Bridal Veil Lakes

August 19th, 2008

I was so excited to learn that Sara and Luke were getting married at Bridal Veil Lakes. They love nature and their wedding reflected it- all the decor was amazingly, naturally beautiful! They were both so happy all day and you can really see it in their photos. Sara just looked so sweet and Luke looked so in love. Ahhhh… weddings. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Exciting Album News!

June 23rd, 2008

In my quest to become as sustainable as possible, I have been searching and searching for an album company that uses recycled paper. And today I finally found one. Not only do they use 50% recycled paper, but the albums are absolutely unique and beautiful! These books can be up to 100 pages, which is an excellent solution if you want to include all your favorite photos in your wedding album.

Teaching Photography!

May 30th, 2008

I am teaching a portrait photography class at MHCC for the professional photography program. Although they are only in their third term, my students are creating some beautiful, interesting work. Here is one of my students modeling for me while I demonstrate a flash bouncing off a gold reflector with the background exposed to be a little darker. I love the way the light is falling on her, her expression and the colors in the portrait.

Back from Hawaii

May 2nd, 2008

Jason and I just got back from our belated Kauai honeymoon, what an adventure!! We stayed in Hannalei Bay for the first few nights in order to rest up for our 3 night backpacking trip along the Napali Coast on the famous Kalalau trail. What an amazing experience… On the first day, we hiked the first 6 miles and camped in a lush, beautiful valley. Then we ambled on through more valleys and alongside steep cliffs. At one point the trail was only 6 inches wide and the drop was straight down into the ocean. Yes, I was a bit petrified. I prayed to God on more than one occasion : ) As we descended into the Kalalau Valley, all the hardship we experienced on the way was forgotten. Kalalau Beach is breathtakingly beautiful. We ended up camping under a coconut tree (no, not directly under it of course!) and we had a view of the ocean- prime real estate! We strolled on the beach as the light faded and the stark green cliffs glowed under the sun’s warmth. After our backpacking trip, we took it REAL easy. We rented a two bedroom ranch house and made ourselves seared crushed peppercorn ahi tuna and ate coconut for dessert. The next 6 days were rough, I mean it is hard to decide which beautiful beach to swim and snorkel at when there are so many choices, right?!! We had a fabulous time and I hope you enjoy some of the many photos. Anyone getting married in Hawaii- give me call, I’ll go back in a heartbeat!!
